Locarno will focus on Portuguese cinema

First Look is the Locarno Festival’s showcase for films in post-production. The eighth edition will run from 3 to 5 August, this year focusing on Portuguese filmmaking. 

Following last year’s success, the Locarno Festival will again be in the limelight in Los Angeles, from 5 to 8 April 2018 at the Downtown Independent cinema. This second edition of Locarno in Los Angeles will host 18 premieres: 13 full-length features and 5 short films from Locarno70’s program. 

The Retrospective at this year’s Locarno Festival will be dedicated to Leo McCarey (1898 –1969). “McCarey’s output is wide-ranging, like an open universe”, claims Carlo Chatrian in his interview.
