A great showreel is more than the sum of its parts! We meet at Avant Première to do business. But who says that this should not be entertaining? While we are all amazed by the wonderful music + dance productions presented during the Avant Première Screenings, we also want to be dazzled by the creativity with which the showreels are produced. So this year for the first time, we honour the unsung heroes and award a prize for the most stunning and entertaining showreels presented during the Avant Première Screenings! Avant Première Music + Media Market Berlin continues to expand its cooperation with the EFM European Film Market, the business section of Berlin International Film Festival which is attended by almost 10,000 visitors and 1,500 buyers per year. With this cooperation we aim to increase exposure and boost business opportunities for the performing arts in audiovisual media, hence we are happy that the following productions will be screened at EFM European Film Market today. “Rooted with Wings” explores the work of internationally acclaimed choreographer and dancer Tero Saarinen, granting the viewer a unique impression of this extraordinary artist’s creative process. Featuring stunningly captured dance sequences and behind-the-scenes material from around the globe, the film follows Saarinen over a five-year period, through premieres and tours in Finland, France, Korea, Kenya, and the USA.

“Betroffenheit” combines spoken word, song, puppetry and dance, in a tender-hearted exploration of tragedy and its effects on the human mind. Co-created by Crystal Pite and Jonathon Young, this genre-defying, Olivier Award-winning production stunned critics and audiences.

14:50 - 15:10: “TO A SIMPLE ROCK ‘N’ ROLL…SONG“ - Presented by 3 Minutes West

“To a simple Rock ‘n’ Roll …Song” is a triple bill by critically acclaimed choreographer Michael Clark. A seamless blend of classical ballet and contemporary dance to music by Erik Satie, Patti Smith and David Bowie. Nominated for a National Dance Award.

15:10 -15:30: “THE FEELING OF GOING“ - Presented by 3 Minutes West

“The Feeling of Going” is a magical, large-scale dance-opera-theatre production created by Ben Wright. Set to Jonas Nydesjö's brilliant orchestration of GO, the award-winning album by world-renowned recording artist, Jónsi (Sigur Rós). Featuring Swedish pop star Moto Boy.

15:30 -16:00 “KREATUR“ - Presented by Sasha Waltz & Guests

Sasha Waltz returns to her roots in her artistic work: For "Kreatur" she and her 14 dancers examine the phenomena of existence against the background of a disrupted society: power and a lack of power, dominance and weakness, freedom and control, community and isolation.
