The 36th edition of Bergamo Film Meeting will take place from March 10 to 18 2018, and will be officially opened on Friday March 9, 9:00 PM at Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, with a screening of The Last Laugh (1924) by Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau that will be live scored by organist Gerardo Chimini. The Festival program includes 7 feature films, all unreleased in Italy, in the COMPETITION – EXHIBITION; 15 documentaries in the CLOSE UP competitive section; the retrospective dedicated to norwegian actress and director LIV ULLMANN, complemented by the photo exhibition LIV&INGMAR set up at Sala alla Porta Sant'Agostino; and also: the section dedicated to contemporary art, dedicated to JONAS MEKAS, with the exhibition Jonas Mekas - Personale (March 10 – April 15, Palazzo della Ragione, Bergamo) and the presentation, with his son Sebastian Mekas, of a selection of his works; the focus on Nová Vlna; the section EUROPE, NOW!, featuring the complete works of three contemporary European filmmakers: Barbara Albert (Austria), Stéphane Brizé (France) and Adrian Sitaru (Romania); a selection of graduation films by European film school students members of CILECT; a focus on animation cinema featuring slovenian animator Špela Čadež; the launching event of BERGAMO JAZZ; the cult movies of GAMeCINEMA, along with previews, the Fantamaratona, the KINO CLUB – for the younger audience - and the DAILY STRIP, featuring four top Italian illustrator: Fabio Tonetto, Vittoria Moretta, Vincenzo Filosa and Mabel Morri; and also... meetings with authors, exhibitions, masterclass, workshops, happy hour events and plenty of surprises.
