TRIESTE SCIENCE+FICTION FESTIVAL 2018 – CALL FOR ENTRIES

The 18th Trieste Science+Fiction Festival, which will run October 30 - November 4, 2018, is open for entries. The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, July 31, 2018.

 

Trieste Science+Fiction Festival admits to its pre-selection procedures feature-length films (running time: 59 minutes min.) and short films (running time: 25 minutes max.) that have not been released in Italy yet and that have been completed in the 18 months prior to the Festival.

The Festival will feature a Competition for Best International Science-fiction and Fantasy Feature-length Film (Asteroid Award), a Competition for Best European Feature-length Film from the fantastic genre (Méliès d’argent Award), a Competition for Best European Short Film from the fantastic genre (Méliès d’argent Award), a selection of international fantastic shorts, a selection of Italian productions from the fantastic genre, along with retrospectives, special programs, life achievement and audience awards, premieres and special events.

 

Based in Trieste (Italy), an enchanting location that lies in the northernmost part of the Adriatic Sea, on the borders between the Balkan Peninsula and the Mitteleuropa, Trieste Science+Fiction Festival was founded in 2000 and, year after year, has asserted itself as the leading fantastic film festival in Italy. As a result, since 2005 Trieste Science+Fiction Festival has been an affiliate members of the European Fantastic Film Festival Federation (melies.org).

In 2015 and 2017, Trieste Science+Fiction Festival hosted the meeting of the European Fantastic Film Festivals Federation and offered its venues to the prestigious Méliès d'or ceremony.


Trieste Science+Fiction Festival had the honor to welcome worldwide prestigious artists such as Terry Gilliam, Roger Corman, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Joe Dante, Dario Argento, Enki Bilal, Marc Caro, Jean “Moebius” Giraud, Neil Gaiman, Ray Harryhausen, Rutger Hauer, John Landis, Christopher Lee, Carlo Rambaldi, George Romero, Joe Lansdale and Bruce Sterling among many others.
