Sydney Film Festival Announces its Inaugural Screen Day Out for High School Students

Hero - The Breadwinner

The 2018 program features an Oscar-nominated animated feature set in Afghanistan (The Breadwinner), a celebration of the art of public speaking from France (Speak Up), global science students tackling environmental problems (Inventing Tomorrow), and the tricky process of training guide dogs for the blind (Pick of the Litter). Screening 7–19 June at the Hayden Orpheum at Cremorne, the Ritz Cinema in Randwick and Casula Powerhouse. For more details: click here.

Guests will introduce each screening and take questions afterwards. 

Tickets: $10 per student per film; teachers free with groups of 5+

Aspiring film writers are encouraged to submit a 750-word review of a film they’ve seen at Screen Day Out. The winner receives 12 double film passes courtesy of Event Cinemas and a Flexipass 10 for the 2019 Sydney Film Festival.

Teachers are also invited to register their class for a free Field Trip to the Apple Store. These hands-on sessions can be tailored to complement classroom projects with topics such as ‘Exploring Creative Storytelling’ and ‘Elevating Ideas to Action’.
