With £6000 in cash prizes and seven categories in its Short Film City programme, the 28th Leeds International Film Festival offers fantastic opportunities to short film makers who submit their films to the festival. Entries that are selected at LIFF28 qualify for both the Academy Awards® and BAFTAs.
We are now considering films for both the Louis Le Prince International Short Film Competition and the World Animation Award. The winning film in each competition will receive a cash prize of £2000, and LIFF28 is also accepting submissions for the BAFTA-qualifying British Short Film Competition, which has a winning prize of £1000.
Leeds International Film Festival champions local filmmaking and is proud to announce a £500 cash prize for the annual Yorkshire Short Film Competition. To be eligible, the production of the film must have been wholly located within Yorkshire. We adore regional flavour, but the film can be any style or genre possible.
In 2014, LIFF28 launches its brand new Leeds International Screendance competition to support outstanding collaborations in film and dance art forms. The winning film will be awarded a cash prize of £500.
Submissions are also open for the Fanomenon Silver Melies Fantasy Short Film Award. The winner of the competition goes forward to compete for the coveted Méliès d’Or prize at Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival in October. LIFF28 has also opened submissions for Dead Short - A new competition for horror shorts. Entries are welcome from anywhere in the world but must be 10 minutes or less and have a strong horror theme.
