- TIFF INDUSTRY PROGRAMME DELIGHTS DELEGATES WITH NOTABLE ADDITIONSThe Toronto International Film Festival® announced additional experts and bold new partnerships to join the TIFF Industry programme today. The stellar lineup at the Glenn Gould Studio and Vimeo Industry Convergence Centre (250 Front Street West), home of the Festival Industry Conference, promises to impress and inspire delegates with an unrivalled experience for film industry professionals.
- TIFF® announced today the lineup of special guests and events that will enhance the in-cinema experience and complement the upcoming exhibition celebrating the life and work of legendary film auteur Stanley Kubrick. Stanley Kubrick will make its Canadian premiere at TIFF Bell Lightbox on October 31, 2014 until January 25, 2015. More than a decade has passed since Kubrick was honoured with a retrospective in Toronto, and the exhibition will be accompanied by the comprehensive look at his oeuvre, Stanley Kubrick: A Cinematic Odyssey. Throughout the run of the retrospective several esteemed guests, scholars and Kubrick collaborators will introduce a number of screenings and explore the themes and continued influence of Kubrick's work.
- Starting September 19, TIFF Bell Lightbox features an incredible programming lineup, including a highly anticipated Stanley Kubrick exhibition, filmmaker retrospectives, free screenings and new releases of the best of contemporary international cinema.
- The Toronto International Film Festival® has dedicated one day of its 2014 edition to a celebration of the charismatic, wise-cracking, comedic genius of living legend Bill Murray. September 5 is Bill Murray Day and includes free public screenings of three comedy classics Stripes, Groundhog Day and Ghostbusters, leading up to the world premiere of the latest Murray-starrer, Theodore Melfi's St. Vincent. Though the Festival cannot Groundhog Day the Bill Murray Day, a contest will be held to reward Murray fans who attend all three free screenings. But, really, everyone is a winner on Bill Murray Day.
- The Toronto International Film Festival® invites audiences to step into the unparalleled experience of its Mavericks programme, featuring intimate conversations with leaders in the film world and beyond. Offering engaging, in-depth discussions and revealing anecdotes about their latest projects, this year's prestigious lineup of special guests includes filmmakers David Thorpe, Julie Taymor, Antoine Fuqua and Jon Stewart; actors Robert Duvall, Denzel Washington, Reese Witherspoon, Richard Gere and Juliette Binoche; and journalists Maziar Bahari and Dan Savage.
- The Toronto International Film Festival® highlights 39 first and second feature films made by exceptional filmmakers from Canada and around the world in the Discovery programme. - The Toronto International Film Festival® today announced details for the Asian Film Summit, which takes place during the 2014 Festival on Tuesday, September 9 at the Shangri-La Hotel, Toronto. The Summit, now in its third year, is an initiative of TIFF's Industry Office and is a key element of TIFF's ongoing commitment to build bridges between Asia and the West, and features an international guest list of industry experts and programming that explores the East-West relationship.
