The NYC Independent Film Festival

The 10th Annual NYC Independent Film Festival provides a showcase for indie filmmakers from NYC and around the world to the NYC public & entertainment industry. Indie filmmakers selffund projects with budgets from $0 - $1,000,000 and often overlooked, these filmmakers show extraordinary talent and creativity under tight budgets. The Festival provides filmmakers with the opportunity for potential distribution while meeting fans and promoting their film.

The festival is expected to screen over 250+ award wining short and 5 feature-length animated films from over 103 countries including Oscar® Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , Emmy® and Grammy® wining artists from around the world. The festival and expo also includes VR experiences, live animation demonstrations, character and model sculptors, animation panel discussions, seminars, and educational programming will be held in conjunction with an international poster contest.

In 2018, the 5th edition of WoFF aspires to bring more audiences, filmmakers and industry professionals together, creating a platform to exchange ideas, showcase their work and most importantly talk on film and new trends in the industry, women filmmakers of today and independent film production in Europe, the US and beyond. Our focus remains on independent cinema from all around the globe, by showcasing the work of first feature filmmakers, women directors and eastern European cinema in our three main sections, First Features, The Female Perspective & Focus on Balkan Cinema, respectively.

ENTRY DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 1st 2018
This Call is for Fantasy, Horror, Sci-Fi features and shorts only of Fantasy gendre. The Director’s Week section is destinaded only for, no strings attach.
Deadlines for Entries for 2019 edition are November 1st (feature and fantasy shorts) and December 5th (Final Call and only for features). Fantasporto enjoys incredible loyalty and support from the large film-appreciating community all over the World. In the last edition, Fantasporto was attended by over 25,000 enthusiastic genre film fans and over 200 members of the film press and industry.
Considered in 2015 as the first of the independent film festivals in the world by TRIPPER, Fantasporto is among the top film festivals for the discovery of new talent, having revealed countless of now famous directors, producers and actors.
The World Heritage City by UNESCO of Porto, twice considered Europe’s Best Touristic Destination, is another factor adding interest . Founded in 1981, the 39th edition has the support of the Portuguese State and the Townhall.
