In memore of Dusty Cohl
The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) was conceived by Dusty Cohl when invited to Cannes by Bill Marshall; both idealistic young moviegoers; met at terrace of the Carlton hotel in Cannes and decided to make a festival.
Soon after, in 1976, compared to Lake Ontario, projected as the opening film "Cousin, Cousine" of Tacchella; It was conceived as a festival of festivals, and paid tribute to Taormina, Cannes, Berlin, Moscow and Edinburgh.
Today, 40 years later, the event is divided about 15 sections and is one of the most important of the world; the same triggers Oscar contenders, offering a great film market, and is a forum for independent films. It is not competitive festival – parallel awards: Fipresci… - allowing you previously projecting the best of San Sebastian, and also what more highlighted in Venice
