Since 1999 the Craic Fest has been the premier Irish film and music festival in the U.S. This year is no exception with an eclectic mix of Irish features, documentaries and short films.
This year marks the 19th annual Craic Fest, presented by Castle Brands and Stella Artois. Opening night is the U.S. premier of Irish rock documentary Fanatic Heart (about the local legendary Irish band that has rocked NYC for over 25 years) Frontman Larry Kirwan and Director Vic Zemet and Stephanie Silber will be in attendance for Q&A. March 3rd Friday night gala is the U.S. premier of Rebel Rossa a documentary on . The director Williams Cole will attend the Q&A. Saturday morning is the Kids Fleadh (storytelling, Step Dancing and Short films). The Craic rolls on Saturday afternoon award winning documentaries. Crash and Burn U.S. premier at 1:30pm. Director Sean O’Cualian will be in attendance. At 3:30pm is the U.S. premier of PUCK O THE IRISH about the history of ice hockey in Ireland and how hurling helped evolved the game in Canada. At 5pm is the U.S. premier of the documentary I Am Traveller narrated by Love/Hate star John Connors. John and director Kim Bartley will be in attendance. Closing night film is 66 DAYS. Award winning documentary about Bobby Sands and his 66 hunger strike. Saturday Q&A to follow as well. We are delighted to have such a diverse lineup of award winning documentaries this year and we are doing a filmmaker lounge this year as well for all three days at Cinepolis Theater (formely known as Bow Tie Cinemas W. 23rd St.)” says Festival Director Terence Mulligan.
The Craic Music Fest is on the following weekend March 11th at Mercury Lounge. A stellar lineup with the return of The Pat McGuire Band, Mick Hargan and Natalie Clark. Doors at 8pm at Mercury March 11th.
