Art Film Festival AVIFF Cannes
May 16 -19, 2016

Support on KISSKISSBANKBANK

We are developing a high quality festival that becomes independent again after trying the adventure of Rothschild villa, owned by the city of Cannes that has been available for AVIFF for free in 2015 due to a decision of the culture service of the municipality, that we thank in passing, but inappropriate for this kind of event. The place although classified and splendid is not suitable for our festival and is located too far away from La Croisette.
This edition 2016 will see the AVIFF in the center of the city and facing the sea, near the port of Cannes.

To make the festival AVIFF even more attractive we open a portion of its funding participatory platform with KissKissBankBank on this link: http://www.kisskissbankbank.com/…/aviff-cannes-art-film-fes…

We offer good visibility and the opportunity for those of you who have been following us for years to share our objectives to better promote films by artists with perseverance and passion.
See you in Cannes

CAMPUS MOVIEFEST ANNOUNCES DATES FOR TERMINUS, JUNE 16 - 19, 2016

Four-Day Event Bringing the Best of Film, TV and Gaming to Downtown Atlanta

Badges Now On Sale, Beginning at $99 for Students and $129 for Non-Students

Campus MovieFest, the world’s largest student film festival, has announced the dates for the inaugural TERMINUS - a four-day event dedicated to bringing together young creatives and industry professionals for the best of film, TV and gaming. Taking place June 16 through 19, 2016 at the Marriott Marquis in Downtown Atlanta and throughout the city, TERMINUS will feature hands-on workshops, educational panels, game design expos, exclusive film and TV screenings, live-play tournaments, awards, chances to rub elbows and network with celebrities and industry leaders, and much more. Ideas United, producers of TERMINUS and creators of Campus MovieFest, chose Atlanta to launch TERMINUS based in large part to the city’s ongoing dedication to supporting and cultivating the entertainment industry.

“We are excited to bring the TERMINUS experience to Atlanta, where we started Campus MovieFest 16 years ago" says David Roemer, CEO & Co- Founder of Ideas United. “We’re thrilled to create an unforgettable opportunity for thousands of students and professionals from across the country that are looking for new ways to create and share with the world.”

The four-day experience creates the ultimate platform for emerging talents and industry professionals alike to take their art and careers to the next level. TERMINUS grew from Campus MovieFest (CMF), the world’s largest student film festival that started in 2001 when four students at Emory University provided their peers with everything they needed to make movies in one week. CMF has since featured more than 1,000,000 students at colleges and universities worldwide. Each participant in the inaugural TERMINUS film festival will also receive all the necessary technology and training to tell their stories for free, thanks to corporate partners and schools. Past winners have walked away with over $2 million in prizes and seen their films on screens big and small. Campus winners will move on to compete at TERMINUS, earn professional and educational opportunities, and see their work at the Cannes Film Festival, in-flight on Virgin America, and much more.

Badges to TERMINUS are available now starting at $99 for students and $129 for non-students before increasing on May 17th. Attendees will receive an all-access badge, giving them first-come, first-served access to participate in hands-on workshops, educational panels, game design expos, exclusive film and TV screenings, live-play tournaments and so much more. Certain activities may require pre-registration and/or additional fees. Badges are available online at www.terminusevent.com

TERMINUS is produced by Ideas United and sponsored by Adobe, Panasonic, Google, Sennheiser, The Elfenworks Foundation and more. Visit www.terminusevent.com for the most up-to-date information. Stay connected on Twitter at www.twitter.com/terminusevent and on Facebook at www.facebook.com/TerminusEvent

To celebrate its 40th anniversary the Montreal World Film Festival is introducing a GOLDEN CHELEMof World Cinema: $1 million (US) in cash prizes will be added to the awards for its competitive sections. The prize money will be shared equally (on a 50/50 basis) by the producers and directors of the winning films, in order to encourage new cinematic creation. “No other festival in the world rewards its best films in such a generous way with 13 different prizes.” stated MWFF Chairman Serge Losique. With this initiative, MWFF ignites a “genuine revolution” in the organization of an international film festival.

A generous benefactor has undertaken to sponsor these prizes. He acknowledged the Festival’s s prominence and hard work, accomplished both at home and on the international scene over 40 years. The prize money will be deposited in-trust at a notary’s office in Montreal, so that it could only be used for that purpose at the MWFF’s Awards Ceremony on September 5, 2016.

    NYIFF package comes to India

Like “Nasa”, they pronounce the acronym “Nyiff/nife”. And it is indeed ‘nice’ that a selection of films shown at NYIFF 2016 is being screened in Mumbai, during 21 June-21 July. It took the dedicated efforts of a team led by architect/interior designer/film producer Anuradha Parikh’s G5A Culture Foundation to make it happen.

With a warehouse, a forum, a ‘citylab’, a film society, a sponsor (Sai Estate Consultants, run by the Wadhwanis, in Chembur, Mumbai) in place, premises developed in the erstwhile cloth-mill/industrial district of Mahalaxmi in central Mumbai (a 7-minute walk from the iconic Famous Studios), proceedings got underway at G5A’s black-box theatre on a Tuesday evening, even as the delayed monsoon showered its blessings (though some felt the rains were a dampener).

Of the 40 films shown at NYIFF—35 narrative and five documentary—five features, four documentaries and four shorts will be showcased here. Highway-Ek Selfie Aar Paar (multi-lingual/director Umesh Kulkarni), which was chosen the Best Film at NYIFF, was, appropriately, the inaugural film.

    Anuradha, Umesh and Aseem

Present on the occasion was Aseem Chhabra, Director NYIFF, a journalist, who has been associated with the festival from the beginning, Highway star Tisca Chopra (also remembered for Taare Zameen Par) and Kulkarni himself. After a formal function, there was a press interaction, followed by the screening, then Chhabra in conversation with Kulkarni and Tisca, a Q&A, and a reception. It was a small, select crowd, and a warm, late end to the evening.

G5A is named after the address of its premises in the complex. Chairman, Dr. Jagdish Parikh, is Anuradha (Founder-Director and CEO) Parikhs’s father and a former Chairman of the Film Finance Corporation (FFC), predecessor of the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC). Both Jagdish and his older brother Arvind are businessmen of repute (Lee & Muirhead, now Lemuir; Printwell, later Technova; Noema, Allied Pickfords), with cultural and artistic leanings. Arvind, now 88, is a renowned sitarist and a leading disciple of Ustad Vilayat Khan. In the good old days, Jagdish often accompanied Arvind on the tabla. Anuradha produced English August (released 1994) and Split Wide Open (1999), both starring Rahul Bose, under her Tropicfilm banner. She is also celebrated as the designer of Aamir Khan’s home and the Tata Chemicals’ work village, both in Mumbai.

NYIFF has on its Board of Directors Talat Ansari, Legal Counsel, Aroon Shivdasani (a multi-faceted and amazing woman; don’t let the name confuse you) President & Executive Director, Jonathan Hollander, Vice President & Co-Founder, Ambassador Prakash Shah, James Luce and Rajan Shah. It is an initiative of the Indo-American Arts Council (IAAC) Inc., a registered not-for-profit (NPO/NGO), secular service, and resource arts organisation, charged with the mission of promoting and building the awareness, creation, production, exhibition, publication and performance of Indian (increasingly South Asian) and cross-cultural art forms in North America.

The IAAC supports artistic disciplines in the classical, fusion, folk and innovative forms influenced by the arts of India.

IAAC Goals and Objectives are to

    • Build an awareness of Indian artistic disciplines in North America.

    • Raise enough money to be able to sponsor artist's activities.   • Function as a central clearing house for funds for artistic disciplines.

    • Present artistic events in the disciplines.

    • Promote and build an interested, aware and educated audience.

    • Act as a service and resource center for Indian art, artists and arts organizations.

    • Compile directories of artists in each of the artistic disciplines.   • Have our own space.

    • Have regular outreach programs to schools and colleges,

    • Encourage young artists to present their work.

    • Create a network for all the various artistic disciplines to share information and ideas.

    • Foster an exchange of artists and arts related information between India and the United States.

We’ll talk a little more about IAAC, Aroon Shivdasani, Aseem Chhabra, Jagdish Parikh, Anuradha and her team, and the films in the package, in another chapter. Meanwhile, if you live in Mumbai, are a cineaste and have not seen the crème de la crème lined-up at G5A, head for Mahalaxmi. Some of these films are even worth a second look. Screenings are held twice a week, and we’ve had two of them already.
